Also known as Turkish oregano or ragani, this is a strong flavored oregano that has antimicrobial activities. It is a lovely low growing perennial, native to Greece and Turkey. Heavy flavored, it is excellent for baking, especially heavy meats and sauces. If the leaves are too strong for you, try the flowers, which have a more delicate, rounded flavor.
